I think someone who has the self determination to go ahead with this expects to not survive. Doing it and unexpectedly surviving and having to live a likely painful rest of your life is different.

I was thinking of getting a keypad, but I’ll definitely have a manual deadbolt along with it because I’m paranoid of it failing, so I’ll likely still be locked out either way.

Edit: I realized a deadbolt has to be locked from the outside, so maybe I won’t be locked out in that case.

Last night, when I was waiting in the car for my wife and we realized after she got in that her bag, where the house keys were, was still inside. She thought I had the bag with me in the car. Had to call a 24/7 locksmith because it was late in the evening.

Information Security is so hard to explain to old people who don’t know much about technology. My grandparents back then (late 2000s) never understood it no matter how I explained it, and they thought I was a security guard at the bank I worked at. Just switching to lemmy from reddit significantly cut down my screentime, especially with how small lemmy is right now where I can browse most of my subcriptions’ content for the day within a total of 2 hours. Nowadays, lemmy is what I do when I have downtime, not the other way around where I don’t have downtime because I’m constantly scrolling.

If lemmy is still eating up a ton of time in your day, then yes deleting your mobile apps will definitely help.

I’m nowhere near the business of foodtrucks so obviously take this with an extremely tiny grain of salt, but I think you’ll have better chances sticking to one area and a standard (non rotating) menu. Sticking in one area - because it’s easier to get regulars and free word-of-mouth marketing if they know you’ll still be there next week. Standard menu - because it might be a turn-off for people to love their first time only to come back and not have what they liked available. You can probably rotate specials, but having a standard base menu will help keep your regulars.

Glad I held back from suggesting Firefish for my wife. I’ve been slowly trying to convince her to jump to the fediverse for microblogging and figured to have her try Firefish simply because it’s prettier than Mastodon. Guess it’s back to ol’ Mastodon.

FWIW, this was debunked when CMG originally made the claim. It was a marketing guy overselling their product and they had to correct their statement. They use the same info data brokers collect, and phones actively listening to you is not true.

As a normal person with no underground connections, maybe a significantly sized diamond? I don’t even know where to begin to be able to sell it. And any stolen large diamond will definitely raise alarms if I bring it anywhere legal to sell.
