I don’t see how this is any different then standing behind someone who is typing and watching them type on a physical keyboard. If you allow someone to see you typing, there’s no security involved there.
That said, there should be an option (if there’s not one already) to turn off the creepy external googly eyes feature.
It costs less in the long run because you don’t start a forest fire that burns down half the state. Should have buried them to begin with.
False equivalence. While the ebook licensing monopoly is awful, that’s not what this case was about.
Internet Archive loaned out potentially infinite copies of books it had neither licensed nor owned multiple physical copies of. This would be like if your local public library made Xerox copies of a single book and handed them out to any patron who wanted a copy.
If IA had simply bothered to purchase a physical copy (even used!) for every copy they loaned out, they would have had a much stronger case.
A crisis of their own making. They really should have known better. Hopefully their non profit status is taken into account during sentencing.
Some mods throw a hissy fit if you post more than a link and a headline that matches the story’s exactly. Some people want more than a link and a headline. You can’t win.
I can actually see the value in a trifold like the one pictured. In your pocket it’s a phone. When you unfold it, it’s an iPad. You’re consolidating devices.
That said, I’m not a fan of folding lcd screen tech used today. It creases. I’d rather see three separate bezel-less screens that magnetically join to make a larger surface.
I think saving JFK would really alter the timeline. I doubt Nixon would have ever been president.
Preventing the Iranian hostage crisis might also have had a huge impact.
Makes we wonder what OS you’re running. Most modern phone software “freezes” the app state when it’s in the background and frees up the memory for the frontmost app.
Print the food expiration date above the label barcode. Black ink on white background.
Remember “webrings”? Im thinking those should make a comeback.
This makes me wish I was rich like Steve Jobs’ widow so I could donate new, roomy, gorgeous branch libraries everywhere.
I was surprised to see a nice library in Lexington as part of the list. I was completely grossed out by the “sponsored by Sealy tempur-pedic” wall though. Inviting corporate sponsorship is just inviting future censorship.
I would love to see more co-ed team sports at the jr high and high school level. Could be interesting if the teams were required to have a certain percentage of male and female on the court/field, with transgender counting as either. People take school sports way too seriously.
“controlled”
I think it would be cool to stumble upon something of archeological value while on a hike. Like some ancient statuette, or something like a cuneiform tablet.
Lots of looking stuff up in encyclopedias. And playing video games on the Atari 2600.
Jurassic Park was ahead of it’s time. I don’t really think of it as a 90s movie.
I’d add Speed. Sandra Bullock was the 90s it actress. And Keanu has already been mentioned in a couple of essential 90s titles.
We already have compostable straws made from plant-based plastics.
