The Prestige. There are so many layers to that movie. I’ve watched it 4 or 5 times, and each time I notice new details.

Ahh okay. That would explain it. Yeah, it’s disappointing that DDG is selectively selling out. I get that they need to make money. But the content in that screenshot you shared is just ridiculous.

Not doubting you here, but I just tried searching for two very different terms on DDG on two different devices (Windows laptop and Android phone) and two different browsers (Firefox and Brave), and I didn’t really see any ads or dodgy stuff.

The mobile Firefox version had a couple of main links at the top (they don’t look like ads), and some news cards under that. But the links were all relevant. The desktop DDG was super clean, again no ads.

This was without ad blockers enabled too. I also tried it in private mode, and still clean.

What am I missing? Why is my DDG experience so clean compared to yours?

Pfft, of course they are not against it. Most of them (certainly all the right-wing evangelicals, plus the racist bigots, and that large intersection of both those groups) are getting weak at the knee over what’s happening in Gaza and the West Bank right now.

Why? Because the ‘Christians’ among them believe the more murder happens there, the quicker their Aryan Jesus will be forced down from his clouds to begin Armageddon. Plus of course, it’s ‘brown-skinned’ Muslims who are being murdered, which they also get giddy about. And if a few Jewish people die in the process? Meh, they wouldn’t care, because in their hearts they are also anti-semitic.

This is encouraging news. But don’t perovskite solar panels degrade much quicker than silicon ones? I know they had found ways of prolonging their life by using lasers to ‘smooth out’ and strengthen the crystal structure of the perovskite. But even with that the last I heard was that they would still only last few a few (2-7) years.

I’ve had a similar experience. Except in my case I used lyrics for a really obscure song where I knew the writer. I asked Chat GPT, and it gave me completely the wrong artist. When I corrected it, it apologized profusely and agreed with exactly what I had said. Of course, it didn’t remember that correct answer, because it can’t add to it update its data source.
